May 2024
As a 7th grade student I'll be representing my Middle School on the Viewpoint Equestrian Team and I’ll be competing in the Freshman classes. The Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) is a non-profit organization and hunter/jumper show circuit for middle and high school students. The mission of the USEA IEL is to bring together eventers with a common interest and provide a supportive community through which students can continue to pursue their riding interests.
Summer was amped up on Saturday and we faulted both rounds, on Sunday she got through to the finish line with the fastest time, but with penalties so that dropped us to place 8th. We were in the top ribbons, but for my first IEL show, I set my goals to earn as many points as I possibly could for my school team.
Next year, I will have a better idea and understanding of how the show works and I’m hoping with a new horse, I will be competing at the Junior Varsity level as an 8th grader.
