SANTA BARBARA NATIONAL HORSE SHOW, SANTA BARBARA, CA JULY 12-16, 2023 #471
Soldier and I went to Santa Barbra to compete in the National Horse Show at the Earl Warren grounds. This was a really fun show, the arenas were located close to the barn stalls. The weather was perfect, and a good part of our team was able to afford to attend this event.
The layout of the Earl Warren Showgrounds is charming, quaint and is perfectly sized show grounds. Because the stalls are so close to the competition arena’s we were all easily able to watch each other compete and still have time to get back to our stalls and prepare for our rounds of competition with plenty of time.
On Saturday night after a full day of competition, we headed into Santa Barbara Old Town off State Street for a fun Italian dinner together at Mizza! This was one my most favorite parts of the weekend as a team and the food was delicious!
Although the footing of the arena wasn’t the best, and many riders and horses slipped and faltered, the CJE team had a strong showing. Soldier and I did our best to compete to the tops of our ability and placed in a majority of the classes we competed in for the weekend taking, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 8th. Everyone received multiple ribbons at this show along with Zoie Brogden getting 1st Place on her new horse Bodega, Joslyn Kramer taking home a 1st Place on Quito in .90 m and Jaymie Sutton Culver earned THREE 1st Place Ribbons, one each day, and on Sunday she was awarded the Grand Champion in the 1.0m on Champ!
